Non-fiction writer and policy analyst Reihan Salam urged Yale students and alumni to "keep America weird" Thursday afternoon.

Salam spoke to roughly 30 students and alumni for an hour about topics that ranged from American exceptionalism to his thoughts on conservative American ideology in an event sponsored by the William F. Buckley, Jr. Foundation.

Chris Shays Talks Politics

On Thursday October 6th, the Buckley Program co-sponsored a Pierson College Master's Tea with Chris Shays. Shays, a longitme congressman from Conneticut, is running for the senate in 2012. He spoke about the challenges facing America, his expierence as a peace-core volunteer, and his time as an elected official. The educational event drew a full house.

During his first-ever visit to Yale on Friday, Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas Governor and 2008 candidate in the Republican presidential primaries, suggested all the nation's problems could be solved by one simple rule: "do unto others as you would have others do unto to you."

Former Bush Speechwriter David Frum Speaks Before Yale Students

NEW HAVEN, CT -- The William F. Buckley, Jr. Program at Yale University, a newly founded, student-run speaker series, hosted David Frum Tuesday in its inaugural on-campus event. Frum, a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush often credited with coining the phrase "axis of evil," spoke on the contemporary right to a crowd of about 50 Yale undergraduates and other guests gathered in Yale's Branford College.

New Haven, CT -- The William F. Buckley, Jr. Program at Yale hosted its inaugural event yesterday in New York City with former Commentary Editor-in-Chief Norman Podhoretz. Founded by a group of Yale undergraduates under the guidance of Professor Donald Kagan, the speaker series will be holding several events on campus this semester. Upcoming guests include David Frum and Bret Stephens.

"Our mission is to promote intellectual diversity at Yale. Intellectual pluralism is an important part of a liberal arts education for students of all political stripes. Unfortunately, however, it is all too frequently absent. We hope to rectify this illiberal tendency by expanding political discourse on campus and exposing students to views that often go unvoiced," said Founder and Executive Director, Lauren Noble '11.
