Two military policy experts clashed over what role the United States military should take on the global stage at a Thursday afternoon talk.
Christopher Preble, vice president for defense and foreign policy studies at the Washington, D.C.-based Cato Institute, and Thomas Donnelly, director of the Washington, D.C.-based think tank Center for Defense Studies, debated their viewpoints on military power in front of about 20 students in William L. Harkness Hall.
It is with sadness that the Buckley Program reports the loss of Priscilla Buckley, a member of our board of directors. She was a light and an inspiration to us all.

On Thursday, February 16, the Buckley Program hosted an electric debate with Professor William Merkel and Dr. Stephen Halbrook, leading experts on the 2nd amendment. The debates were part of the new Rosenkranz Debate Series, sponsored by the Rosenkranz Foundation.
The legal experts debated the Supreme Court's decisions in DC v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago. (Dr. Halbrook was an active participant in the cases).

On November 4th, the William F. Buckley Jr. Program at Yale held a conference examining the 60th anniversary of Buckley's breakthrough book, God and Man at Yale, with speakers ranging from Dr. Henry Kissinger to the Weekly Standard's Bill Kristol to National Review's Rich Lowry.
In the afternoon, after opening remarks by Yale University President Richard Levin, three panel discussions examined the history of the book, its impact on higher education, and the conservative movement today.
The Wall Street Journal published a set of remarks delivered by Neal Freeman at the God and Man at Yale conference. Mr. Freeman is a member of the Buckley Program's board of directors. You can read the full piece here.
