Judge James Buckley is one of the few people to have served at a high level in all three branches of government -- as a senator from New York, an Undersecretary of State, and a judge on the DC court of appeals. He was the lead plaintiff in a landmark campaign finance case, Buckley v. Valeo, which overturned restrictions on candidate's spending their own money in races. He also serves on the board of the Buckley Program.
